The Category Formula

We have established a formula to decipher if a category is eAuction suitable. We can break the formula down to cover four main areas of importance, we call this formula the Four 'S' for eAuction Success:

• Spend - Is the level of spend in the category at a level that will stimulate competition in the marketplace?
• Specification - Can the specifications be clearly defined?
• Suppliers - Are there enough qualified suppliers available to fulfill the required volume?
• Supply - What are the current market conditions for the category and is the timing right?

By ensuring that each of the four 'S' questions are applicable and meet the minimum requirements, we can establish that the category is eAuction ready. 

Benchmarking

The next step in ensuring a category is eAuction ready involves conducting in-depth benchmark reporting.  In this crucial step of the process, we use current economic information and historical eAuction data  to produce viable information to support the prospective eAuction and the potential for savings in that category.
